The ABC reports police across the south-east of Australia are cracking down on drink driving.
In the biggest ever interstate co-operative effort, called Operation Raid, police will have an increased presence on the roads as well as more random breath testing.
ACT Detective Superintendent Michael Chew told the ABC, “It will be just a heightened focus and a heightened presence in particular during Operation Raid over the next three weeks, then that leads into our heightened campaigns for Christmas and New Year.
“Members of the community tend to come into the party time of the year and they just need to be reminded that we have a rather large road toll at the moment and we will be focusing on drink-driving leading into the Christmas, New Year period.”
