Massive crackdown on drink driving

Before Christmas actually isn’t a bad time for Police to be doing comprehensive vehicle inspections, either. More people are going to be driving longer distances during the Christmas break than at any other time, and if you can get it fixed before people are miles from anywhere, so much the better.

I have wondered for ages as to the wisdom of whoever chose that place and time as it didn’t seem to me to be a particularly cost-effective use of resources.

It would also explain why there were about a dozen young coppers desperately trying to find some problem with every vehicle and driver they stopped.

I always like when the latest bunch of recruits are about to finish and one of their last excercises is to conduct an RBT

so one week during december all the young ones converge on Lady Denman Drive between 7 and 8 and get to have a go breathalizing the public

the only people in trouble would be those who’d gone to a work Xmas function the night before and were still over the limit

Serious and repeated drink driving offenders deserve jail time.

When the new ‘holiday farm’ opens for business in town, I trust that it will take ‘bookings’ from those who don’t believe they are, in effect, a loaded gun when getting behind the wheel with skin load of booze!

Kiddies may be interested that there is a suggestion that a young participant in recent ram raids was also involved in the incident that caused a death in Civic.
