An early morning fire at a Braddon tattoo studio has been deemed suspicious, with signs of forced entry discovered during an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Emergency services had been called to the recently opened business on Elouera Street at about 5:35 am on Monday (19 June), but an internal sprinkler system had already extinguished the flames.

An investigation showed signs of forced entry at about 5 am. Police believe the suspected arsonists entered the studio via an adjourning alleyway and then left the scene in a stolen blue-green Toyota Celica.

The vehicle was recovered by officers on Tuesday (20 June) and is undergoing a forensic examination.

Police have released video of the stolen vehicle near the fire and have asked anyone with information regarding the incident or which could help with their investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference 7460996. Information can be provided anonymously.
