More on Parly House security staff

By Xanthomyza - 15 August 2005 2

According to this brief article at ABC Online some guards at Parliament House do not have appropriate security clearances.

The Australian Federal Police Association says it raised the issue two years ago. So when will it be addressed? Another problem for Hilary Penfold?

Hmmm …. maybe the question to ask is whether those guards are permanent or on a short-term contract. If the former, then dont bring them in until the security clearance is through. If the latter, then why are we giving them security clearances?

Hey! almighty RiotACT editor … what about an interview with Hilary Penfold? then you can ask her all the questions we’ve wondered about.

oddly enough, security checks take a long, long time.

requiring them where they aren’t needed due to knee jerk security blanket PR stunts only makes those delays longer.

the old and the bold are making a fuss because they want to make a closed shop and they’ve got clearance.

Why Parliament House can’t do their own background checking is beyond me.

But if it’s that gosh darn important then don’t hire them until they’ve completed the check.
