More than 20,000 drivers were caught speeding in a two week trial period in June before fines started being issued.

While not all those caught speeding yesterday will be issued a fine, which are still in the process of being confirmed, around 60 to 70 per cent of the fines are expected to be passed on.

Motorists caught speeding by between 15 and 30 km/h can face fines of over $438 and three demerit points.
