In what I hope will be a regular feature the Movie Discussion Group are sending in their verdicts of the films they go to see.
- CHILDREN OF THE SILK ROAD is a very interesting story, shot beautifully in China. (the Gobi desert is particularly superb). The second half of the film, involving a trek with 60 orphaned children across hundreds of miles, is the most engaging part of the tale. One group member felt the direction, script and acting are amateurish in the first half, but the rest of the group disagreed.
Group rating: three-and-a-half stars (out of five)
The Movie Discussion Group meets once a week to see a movie and then go for coffee afterwards to discuss. There are no membership fees. For more information, or to join our emailing list, contact us at movie_group@yahoo.com.au.
