The best sixteen short films in Australia will be screened at Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park on Sunday 21st February.

The lights…camera…..ACTION begins at 3.00pm with Chris and Ashleigh from 104.7 hosting the screening of TropJnr – 12 films chosen as finalists in the Under 15 year category and oh my – these kids are CLEVER!

After TropJnr, the DJ will stir the crowd in readiness for two bands made up of ANU students and, to host you through the screening of the sixteen finalists in the Open Tropfest, Scotty and Nige from 104.7 will intersect with Adam Spencer at the mothership stage in Hyde Park, Sydney.

There’ll be four very excited Canberra film-makers at the official area at Trop Sydney as they are amongst the finalists watching their films being screened then waiting for the BIG announcements.

From more than 600 entries this year, Shannon Wilson is a second-time finalist with Fishlips; Scott Holgate and Tony Nicholls with their film Every Second Weekend and first-time entrant and immediate finalist is Liam Newton with his animated film, Awakening.

Bring a chair or struggle-rug and sit under the beautiful trees in Commonwealth Park to watch these fab films. Also bring your own water bottle as the SES are providing huge tanks of fresh water to minimise the cast and wastage of plastic drink bottles and you are encouraged to bring an old shopping bag to take your rubbish home – to compost, of course!

You can pre-order gourmet hampers from Flint Dining Room & Bar [www.flint.net.au] or purchase on-site from Bush Goddess Foods, Taste of Turkey and Cafe Momo plus madFish Wines.

The Waste Busters will be in action to sort and store any refuse which will minimise the effects of 23,000 people in a small space and we’ll all benefit from making an effort to make a difference.

More information at ACT Events and we’ll see you there…..
