Deputy ACT Opposition Leader Richard Mulcahy wants as many Canberrans as possible to come to the Legislative Assembly’s budget debates this week.

He says it he thinks those who are concerned about tax increases, school closures and so on should come on down and listen with their own ears to how the Government justifies itself.

“This year’s Budget will have an enormous impact on all areas of life in Canberra,”he said. “People who are concerned about the impact of increases to rates, charges, and taxes, or the Government’s plan to close thirty-nine schools, or any other area of the Budget, should attend the debates.

“I am amazed by the audacity of this Government. They have delivered one of the worst budgets in recent history and have attempted to tell the people of Canberra that the measures were unavoidable.”

For those who have the time and inclination, the Assembly sits from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 6.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
