Last year the ACT Down Syndrome Association (ACTDSA) lost their main sponsor and this has had large impacts on their service provision ability. In light of this, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day, “Recorders in the Basement” & Friends will be performing a charity concert at Mount Stromlo Observatory at 3pm on Sunday the 22nd of March. They will feature recorder music from the Renaissance through to contemporary, including ensemble and solo pieces with a range of instrument sizes. The concert will include afternoon tea, coffee and cakes.
Tickets at the door (at the historic Commonwealth Solar Observatory Building): Individuals with Down Syndrome FREE; Members/Families of ACTDSA $10; Non-Members $25; Families $35; Concession $20.
All proceeds will go directly to the ACTDSA to support basic services for their members and families!
This is a great Sunday afternoon out and you can explore the beautiful Mount Stromlo Observatory site before and after the concert. Magnificent views over Canberra from an important historical Canberran site and institution.
