Events ACT have details for this year’s Canberra Nara Candle Festival:

The event will feature Wadaiko Rindo, a Japanese drum ensemble renowned for energetic and dynamic drumming performances. Other fantastic performances will be by Japanese group Manpuku Band, dance group Hokkai Ahondarakai, Nara University High School, Narrabundah College and the ACT Senior Concert Band.

The festival brings a wide variety of Japanese and Australian culture together with arts and crafts such as calligraphy, lantern making, origami, Anime and kite flying.

The festival features wonderful Japanese cuisine and stalls, including Shiatsu massage and the art of bonsai, ikebana and Japanese ceramics. Visitors will be able to take part in the drumming and ikebana workshops.

Not to be missed are the martial arts demonstrations and mochi pounding ? a demonstration of traditional rice-cake making by the Embassy of Japan. At the Embassy tent you can also try some sake and traditional Japanese games.

Parking is available in the Parliamentary zone, with a free shuttle bus to Canberra Nara Peace Park. Public parking is not available in the Hyatt Hotel car park.
