You can wet your whistle when a new festival set to showcase the best of Canberra’s food and wine launches in April.

The inaugural Stomp Festival will be held on 29 and 30 April, bringing together more than 25 wineries and producers from across the Canberra region.

Lerida Estate Winery operations manager Melisa Morgan says the festival is a chance for the region’s wineries and producers to truly come together.

“We are one wine district, and in uniting as one, it’s a great opportunity for everyone to see what we’re all about,” she says.

Stomp Festival was organised by the Canberra District Wine Industry Association after it received a grant to stage the weekend-long event.

“Visitors can go along to as many wineries as they want in the two-day period, and there are special offers, discounts, exclusive wine tastings and more at each of the different wineries participating,” Melisa says.

Attendees will be able to experience all the participating wineries have to offer, including exclusive wine releases, farm animals, a chance to stomp some grapes yourself, live music, winery tours, chocolate tastings and games with prizes.

As part of the Stomp Festival, Lerida Estate will stage an exclusive tasting of its Single Vineyard wine series for ticketholders only.

“I’m super excited that people have the opportunity to purchase one ticket and then can visit any or all of the wineries that they choose in the two-day period and see what we have available,” Melisa says.

“We all have something so very different to offer, and we all have some amazing, delicious wines.”

Melisa says Stomp Festival is set apart from similar past events by how it will bring the wider Canberra wine region together as a group.

“I think this time, the real difference is Canberra Wine Association getting behind it and getting this going and giving it some traction for everybody in the district to be involved in the same festival,” she says.

“As long as I’ve been part of the Canberra wine region – which is just coming up to six years – it’s the first time that, as a district, we’ve really had a festival for all of us.

“It is a perfect chance to show off what Canberra’s wine and food is all about.”

The full program is available via the Stomp Festival website. Tickets cost $29.50 and are available via Humanitix. In addition to the program for Stomp Festival ticketholders, other events are scheduled but may incur an extra cost.
