That’s absolutely insane. It must be a misquote or something, seriously. There are arguments for merging some of the research schools (RSBS, RSC etc.) into CSIRO, but not the whole university. What the hell would they do with a philosophy department? Law? Art? Music?

(Unless the plan is just to get rid of those, thus opening up a bunch of *really* valuable City real estate…)

That’s a ridiculous suggestion. So the best minds should be relieved from teaching? The undergrad-faculty relation works both ways: Undergrads learn from faculty and grads. After that Lecturers pick the good undergrads for hons and grad studies. I suppose it might also deliver quite a blow to Canberra’s nightlife.
But but if it was for Brendan, he would possibly also build an attached reactor on Black Mountain.

The CSIRO has annoyed the big end of town for a very long time.

Fancy using science in the public interest when it can be crippled and shackled for the profit of a few!

getting under-grads out of ANU would reduce enable the purging of lefties on the faculty too i imagine.
