The NCA informs us that they’re going to have another go at repairing the glass panels in the Nurses Memorial on Anzac Parade (the one which looks like an art-deco public convenience).
It’s the third time one of the panels has broken (previous incidents in 2002 and 2006). While vandals were blamed in the past (odd… as other memorials don’t seem to suffer and nurses are generally well regarded even by stupid kids) this time another cause has been identified:
- The report found that the recent breakage is likely to be the result of nickel sulphide inclusions in the glass, a consequence of the manufacturing process.
UPDATED: The NCA have now announced that repairs are complete.
