OAM and custom-made microscope among items stolen from storage facility

An Order of Australia medal and a custom-made microscope are among items that were stolen from a storage facility in Belconnen, prompting an appeal for information by police.

Police have released information about some items stolen during two burglaries of a storage facility on Nettlefold Street, Belconnen which occurred during the nights of 27 and 29 November, 2018.

According to police, the offender or offenders entered the complex through a hole cut in the fence and attempted to break into several storage units, however not every unit targeted was entered.

Police have released details of three distinct items stolen in these burglaries which are likely to be easily identified.

The first item is an artwork, made up of stone pieces on small plinths, one of which is on a glowing red base.

The second is an Order of Australia medal, gold in colour, on a royal blue ribbon with a central stripe of a gold wattle pattern.

The third item is a custom-made Olympus BX51TF model microscope and a digital camera, which were stored in a locked black, Pelican brand case with wheels and a handle.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
