Parliament Sitting Dates for 2013?

Working in the private sector, I only occasionally need to check the sitting dates for parliament (every few months or so), and usually when I go to http://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Sitting_Calendar it’s right there to help me plan my calendar. Perhaps it’s nothing unusual, but I’ve been trying to find the dates for 2013 for several months now, and they’re not up yet! There’s only two months left of 2012; surely it’s time for a 2013 sitting calendar to be up! While this isn’t critical, it’s quite inconvenient.

So I’m just hoping there are a few Rioters who know the usual pattern well enough to tell me when the first sitting week for the House of Representatives is likely to be in 2013, as this would help me set the date for a meeting!

Just remember that it is Parliament itself that sets the sitting pattern, not the parliamentary departments.

However, the pattern is usually fairly similar and therefore can be predicted with a reasonable level of confidence. So the week beginning Monday 11 February is likely to be Additional Estimates.

I have some bad news for you. They don’t usually determine the sitting pattern for the following year until the last sitting period of the current one. That means it will be released sometime in late November – and that’s if Parliament can pass it.

I have been waiting for these to go up as well and have been frustrated also, however, I don’t think in recent years they have been posted until the end of October (the last week or thereabouts) or early November (the first two weeks).

This year the first sitting week was Tues 7 Feb for both house. In 2011 it was Tues 8 Feb. So maybe it’s the first Tuesday in February??
