Best known for his hosting role on cult hit Backberner and The Einstein Factor, Peter Berner is returning to his roots as a stand-up comic to say all the stuff he can’t get away with on the telly!
Peter Berner is one of Australia’s best known media personalities, and has been on TV and Radio for more than a decade. He’s an exceptional stand-up comedian, and his shows are acclaimed as a mix of intelligence and hilarity.
Associate Director of the Canberra Comedy Festival, Benjamin Stevenson, says, “Peter Berner is a mainstay of Australian media, but many people might not have actually seen him do stand-up before. He is hilarious. Do yourself a favour and check him out.”
Peter will be coming to Canberra as part of the Canberra Comedy Festival to perform his new show As Not Seen On TV on Friday March 7 and Saturday March 8 at 8:30pm at the Novotel, Canberra.
“Considered, intelligent, arguments… jokes which aim higher than average – and hit their targets time and time again.” The Adelaide Advertiser
Canberra Comedy Festival kicks of next Tuesday, March 4, and has already posted record sales – trouncing last year’s statistics a week out from the festival – with The Opening Night Gala and The Doug Anthony All Stars already sold out, and shows such as Jimeoin, Hannah Gadsby, Sammy J, and local favourites Chris Ryan and Eddy Nelson selling quickly and likely to sell out within days. Dave O’Neil, Glenn Robbins, Peter Berner, and Tom Gleeson are also set to play packed houses.
Local comedians are also doing great things. Dayne Rathbone is donating all profits from his show It’s Me Mandela to a South African children’s charity and comedian Greg Kimball is the witness who phoned the police on sighting a seven month old baby in a stolen car in Canberra’s North several days ago. Suitably enough, Greg’s show, Man Baby, is about becoming a new father himself. “As a new dad, I couldn’t imagine how stressful that day must have been for the parents,” Says Kimball,
then adds with a chuckle, “But I’m sure I’ll find a way to work it into the show somehow.” Laughter is, after all, the best medicine.
Canberra Comedy Festival runs from March 4-9 2014. There are over 50 shows with the world’s top comedians. For more information or to book tickets: www.canberracomedyfestival.com.au
