Playdates for the Planet, Canberra

Playdates for the Planet, Canberra is a playgroup for families living in the Canberra region, who are trying to live lower impact lifestyles, or who are interested in finding out more! It aims to bring together local families with similar beliefs about protecting the planet we live on, and for those interested to find out more about local community groups and organisations that support environmentally friendly family lifestyles. Be sure to spread the word!

The first get together for this playgroup with an eco-focus was held on Thursday 25th Feb at Black Mountain Peninsula. Now it is becoming an ongoing group, with the next playdate planned for Wed 10th March at Fadden Pines from 10am, for a couple of hours. We will be at the kids play area… look for the flag! BYO morning tea for a Meet & Greet morning play, then come to the Sunday 21st March outing at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, and then on Thursday 25th March will be Emma’s Recycled Craft Day at Weston Park.

Der. You could car-pool if you want to save fuel. Plus you’d know at least one other family going to the playdate if you go together. If you’re organising events that focus on the natural environment, it helps to actually spend time in the environment. And the parks that were listed on the blog look quite nice – I haven’t been to Tidbinbilla before, would be great to have something to motivate me to take the kids out there for a picnic and platypus-spotting.

What about “Don’t forget to stock up on your favourite type of greenhouse-unfriendly fuel for the huge round trip to this venue which you can’t catch public transport to and which even the most dedicated of inner north hippies with kiddies in bike trailers would be absolutely nuts to attempt”???
