Police are calling for assistance from the public after an alleged hit and run incident involving a child in Canberra’s north on Monday afternoon (5 November).

Police said that about 5:20 pm, a blue vehicle entered Rochelle Street from the roundabout of Slim Dusty Circuit in Moncreiff and hit the child, who needed to be taken to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle did stop briefly, but did not attempt to check the welfare of the child before leaving the area along Rochelle Street.

Officer in Charge of Traffic Operations Acting Station Sergeant David Wills said police were trying to ascertain the exact circumstances of this incident.

“If you are the driver in question in this incident, I would urge you to contact police as soon as possible,” Acting Station Sergeant Wills said.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident, or have any information or dash-cam footage that could assist police to contact ACT Policing Operations on 131 444.
