Police have released the names of the mother and her two children who died in a suspicious house fire in Bonner on 19 February.
They are Anne Muhoro, 45, her son Ezvin, 8, and her daughter Faraha, 5.
Superintendent Scott Moller said identifying the bodies was time-consuming. “The identification process is complex, it involves a number of agencies, and it does involve DNA matching so it takes time,” he said.
Superintendent Moller said the complex task of evidence collection from the scene has been completed but the forensic testing in relation to that evidence was ongoing.
He said police were asking anyone with information, specifically dash-cam footage of the area between midnight Sunday 18 February and 8.45 am on Monday 19 February, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
Superintendent Moller said police were pursuing a number lines of inquiry but would not speculate on any element of the investigation including how the three died, whether it was being treated as murder or suicide, what accelerants were used to start the fire or whether the man spoken to on the day of the fire was a suspect.
He said the fire had affected everybody involved and that ‘everyone we have spoken to are heartbroken’.
ACT Fire and Rescue were called to a fire in Peter Coppin Street, Bonner, about 8.45am on 19 February and found a house well alight.
