1. Alleged rapist to face court:
ACT Policing has arrested a 19-year-old Phillip man for a sexual assault that occurred in Kambah earlier this year (January 23).
Police will allege a 35-year-old female was walking along a footpath when she was approached by the alleged offender asking for a light for his cigarette. He then followed the female victim, who turned around and confronted him. The alleged offender struck the victim across the face, and she fell to the ground, where she was sexually assaulted.
Members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations (CI) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) arrested the male yesterday (28 June) and conveyed him to the Regional Watch House.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with sexual assault in the second degree and sexual intercourse without consent.
