Public tip-off leads to two stolen vehicles and three arrests

A tip-off from the public helped police locate two stolen motor vehicles at Pine Island in Greenway yesterday morning.

ACT Policing reports that a man and two women were apprehended and charged with a range of offences.

“A 28-year-old Belconnen man and a 20-year-old Page woman will face ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 23 August 2017), and a 22-year-old Coombs woman will appear at a later date, after they were located in a stolen motor vehicle,” said ACT Policing in a statement.

“About 7:00 am yesterday (22 August 2017), police responded to a report of two stolen motor vehicles located at Pine Island, Greenway.

“Police attended and located the vehicles. A man entered one of the vehicles and attempted to leave the area. Police directed the male driver to stop and apprehended the occupants of the vehicle,” the statement said.

“The 28-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without consent, drive while disqualified, going equipped for theft and a first instance warrant.

“The 20-year-old woman was charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without consent and unlawful possession of stolen property.

“The 22-year-old Coombs woman will appear before court at a later date, charged with firearms related offences, ride/drive motor vehicle without consent and possess prohibited substance,” the statement concluded.
