UPDATED: Queanbeyan's main road reopens after man discovered with stab wounds

UPDATE – 12:30 pm: Monaro Street has reopened to traffic, and diversions are no longer in place.

9 am: Inquiries are underway after a man was found injured along Queanbeyan’s main road early this morning.

Officers attached to the Monaro Police District were called to Monaro Street at about 1:30 this morning (11 September), where they found a man with stab wounds to his arm and leg.

Police rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and took the man to Canberra Hospital, where he’s reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established in Monaro Street which is undergoing specialist examination by Scene of Crime officers.

The stretch of Monaro Street between Collett Street and Atkinson Street has been closed, with traffic diverted to surrounding streets such as Crawford Street, Morisset Street and Atkinson Street.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to call Queanbeyan Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
