Police have charged a Nowra man over a single vehicle crash that left three passengers dead at Tarago, about 40 km south of Goulburn, earlier this week.
About 1:10 pm on Sunday 28 July 2024, emergency services were called to the intersection of Bungendore and Collector Roads at Tarago after reports a vehicle had left the road and rolled, coming to rest on its roof.
A NSW Police spokesperson said officers attached to The Hume Police District and other emergency services attended and found three passengers – a man aged 20, and two women aged 18 and 20 – dead at the scene.
“The 21-year-old male driver was able to get out of the vehicle unassisted and was taken to Canberra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the police spokesperson said.
“He also underwent mandatory testing.
“Specialist officers attached to the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the matter.
“Inquires established that the driver was the holder of a suspended licence.
“About 3:35 pm on Thursday 1 August the 21-year-old man attended Nowra Police Station, where he was arrested and charged with three counts of negligent driving occasioning death and one count of drive motor vehicle with a suspended licence.”
The North Nowra man was granted conditional bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 9 October 2024.
Investigations are ongoing.
