Smith’s Alternative continues its live music celebration of spring this weekend. Soul and blues outfit Lucy Ridge & The Derby Widows will be appearing at Smith’s Spring Sessions on Saturday afternoon before Nyash Afrobeat Collective takes to the stage on Sunday.
Across town, three-piece doom band Witchskull is bringing their high energy live show back to The Basement for a homecoming set. It’s been a while since the world-hopping group have been able to perform on their home turf. Supported by Charlotte and the Harlots and B.C., expect hard-hitting riffs and insights into the occult.
sideway’s weekly band night is back, headed up by dog world and Jack Phemister & The Wine Tasters this week. Singer-songwriter Cathy Diver also returns to the capital this week. Armed with stories from her homeland in Tasmania, she’ll embark on her first show back on the mainland this Sunday at the Old Canberra Inn.
