Canberra pop artist AYA YVES is getting ready to perform to a sold-out audience at Smith’s Alternative this Saturday. The intimate, sit-down event will see the singer performing her brand new single ‘Smart Girls’ as well as songs from across her catalogue.
Requiem For A Reef takes over the cavernous Canberra Glassworks space on Thursday. It’s an immersive cross-media performance and a collaboration between artist Ngaio Fitzpatrick, composer Alexander Hunter and nine performing musicians. The musical work and installation advocates for the endangered Great Barrier Reef, drawing out striking ideas of entropy and irreparable damage through sound and visual art. You can join this live stream via Zoom.
Bedroom pop quartet Sesame Girl, psychedelic-surf outfit The Narcissists, and all-out rockers Signs & Symbols are all set to perform at The Basement this Thursday. The show is presented by local promoters SubTerra, flying the flag as one of the first to put the city’s indie bands back on stages in the post-COVID-19 world.
Live In Ya Lounge continues this week as well. Canberran singer-songwriter Kirrah Amosa is bringing her brand new live show, complete with backing dancers to the Live In Ya Lounge stage while MCKY‘s R&B and soul portraits of Australian life offer a taste of their new sound.
