It’s been a big week in Australian music.

The wider industry is feeling the encouragement of incremental movement towards a somewhat more tenable situation for music venues. Almost as a reward for the music world’s continued perseverance, legendary Brisbane band Powderfinger has announced a one-off reunion show to be performed via live stream this Saturday.

On the flip side, one of the country’s premier music festivals FOMO is facing liquidation, and vital booking agency 123 Agency, which has supported the careers of Tash Sultana and The Vanns among many others, is moving down a similar path.

Closer to home, Canberra artists are making sure the wins pile up higher than the losses this week. The artist-led collective Undine Records has launched their first release, the lovingly-compiled So Fresh – Hits of the ‘Tine, a collection of demos and unreleased gems from 20 of the city’s most beloved artists.

“NO GODS – NO SOCIAL CONTACT – NO MASTERING” is the brief and poignant message from Undine in these trying times. Their thoughts ring true as we look ahead at all the live music on offer this week.
