Smith’s Alternative’s band open mic night returns this week with five of the city’s newest groups set to perform for Band Beng Bing Bong Bung. Expect to hear from the likes of Indie Quirky, The Dalmatians, Northbourne, Small Town Alien and Positive Feedback Loop, and prepare to discover your new favourite band.

Melbourne dream pop artist Hachiku and her band are gearing up to perform at Gorman Arts Centre’s Ralph Wilson Theatre this Saturday, 27 March. Hachiku (aka Anika Ostendorf) moved from Germany to Melbourne and found a nurturing music community around the indie label Milk! Records. Her band are touring around the country in celebration of 2020’s debut album, I’ll Probably Be Asleep.

Canberra’s newest ‘something-punk’ trio NORA are celebrating a debut of their own this week, with a single launch at The Polo in Turner on Saturday night. Supported by ARCHIE and Box Dye, this will be a night of all-local emerging acts.
