Today the ACT courts added a couple extra years to the Belconnen Library serial child sex offender sentence. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/belconnen-library-child-molester-to-serve-extra-three-years-jail-20140818-105d87.html

It was his sixth conviction for offences against children.

At what point do we say enough is enough, this obviously isn’t working?

Who is delivering this service and who’s responsible for ensuring offenders are allowed to reenter the community without further harming our children?

Perhaps he’s more useful to science?

I believe Corrective Services run the program but you can’t ‘fix’ a paedophile. The only way to ensure they won’t reoffend against children in the community is to not allow them back into the community.

He’ll still be in his 40s when he’s next released. Maybe the sentence when he inevitably reoffends will be longer.

9.5 years is still manifestly inadequate for a recidivist offender with 5 previous convictions. If never to be released does not apply in this case when does it?
