That lake is absolutely choc full of trout. If you go there in summer going on twilight you will see thousands of trout rising all over the lake eating insects. Would make a great fishery if they opened it up like they do for Gogong but at the moment its only Rangers that get to fish there so ive been told haha.

Bimberi’s in Official Wilderness so getting to it takes some effort, as others have posted here. Snow level *might* creep a bit lower tonight/tommorrow so maybe, perhaps, there’ll be some on Gingera et al.

Thats Bimberi peak the highest mountain in the ACT and no higher mountain north of that in Australia.

Is that possible access by foot with a standard car on a day hike? Probably not I imagine.

Closest vehicle access is either Orroral Valley (in Namadgi NP) or Blue Water Holes (in Kozi NP). From either it is a couple of days return (and that is pushing it). And I think Long Plain Track is probably shut for the winter, so the walk on Kozi side is even longer.

Smugness alert: I told you the King Parrots knew it was going to snow!

Its a bit of an effort as its pretty isolated you can actually do it from stockyard passing by Gingerra but its more like an overnight trip unless your very fit and start early and a GPS is handy.

The usual routes are from the West via Adaminaby as described Here

And the East route described Here which is longer.

Sorry the links were wrong these should work

East route Here

West route Here

Is that possible to access by foot with a normal car? Or is 4WD the only way? I’m looking for good a good hike with the fellas this Sunday.
