Oh dear… they talk about the first magpie of spring and the first fly of the summer. What about the first sign of Easter? My wife has just arrived home with Hot Cross buns. THE POST-CHRISTMAS SALES ARE STILL ON!!!

By what definition is selling an otheriwse perfectly acceptable product before some date or other a “shitty practice”?

Like you, I can’t say I really like it. But, honestly, there are plenty of other things to get all hot and bothered about. Just leave the “stupid” people be. They probably don’t really care or judge what you do with your hard earned in your free time.

God forbid anyone turns their heater on before Anzac Day?!!!

Should read “weren’t so stupid” – still drinking 1st coffee of the day.

HC, maybe they do.

However the POINT is, that they’re selling them BEFORE Christmas. The need to market these products months before is ridiculous. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen Christmas decorations in shops around May.

It’s a shitty practice which has to stop and perhaps it might if people were so stupid as to buy the product well before it’s usage date.

What has come over people on here?! So a person is a fool for eating a hot cross bun on any day that is not Good Friday?!

Maybe they just taste good. Did you ever consider that?

Considering the buns are meant to be eaten on good friday, wouldn’t it go to reason that the time to bring them out would be about a week before good friday? There is no need for them 2.5 months before the day. That being said I guess people must be buying them. Fools.

Only now? Hell no.

My friend works in a bakery and they started making them BEFORE Christmas e.g. 16th December.

Wtf is with the world? I don’t understand the damn need to push the ‘seasons’ into one another.

It was good this year the election held off xmas until quite late.

Back when Manuka was normal, the bakery in Thetis Court used to just make batch after batch of hot crossed buns, and sell them warm from a trestle table set up out front of the shop. Everyone knew, and would be coming to get them.

I guess now we bu them pre-packaged from coles or woolworths. Probably made in China.

Yes… but it is early this year in comparison with other years in the past and future…
