If you love tall tales and true – as well as luxurious dining – a new experience at Braidwood this month may be pure gold.
History is being brought to life in the Southern Tablelands town, with Australian writer, author and ‘cryptonaturalist’ Tim the Yowie Man doing the honours.
Tim will be taking guests on what’s being billed as an “unforgettable tour of Braidwood’s history and and its mysteries”, followed by a luxurious dining and overnight stay experience at Mona Farm.
Mona Farm has established itself as a premium accommodation and event location near Braidwood. The sprawling property houses several cottages and homesteads, each with its own secluded setting, yet all within reach of diverse culinary experiences overseen by executive chef Tristan Rebbettes.
“We are delighted to partner with Tim the Yowie Man to offer this unique experience,” Mona Farm’s general manager Millie Di Maio said.
“I’ve been captivated with the colourful history of Braidwood since moving to the area four years ago, and we look forward to sharing these fascinating stories with our guests while they enjoy the unparalleled beauty of Mona Farm.”
Tim the Yowie Man is well-known for his passion for uncovering the truth behind Australia’s historical secrets and spookiest mysteries. On this tour, he will lead guests on an intriguing exploration through Braidwood, sharing the town’s rich history, captivating folklore, and enchanting natural beauty.
The entire town of Braidwood is heritage-listed, and this is a rare opportunity to explore the stories and sights, including a home-grown bushranger gang, stories of lawlessness, intrigue and colourful pioneering characters.
“Braidwood is a town full of history and mystery,” Tim said. “I’m excited to share its secrets with our guests. Combined with the luxurious overnight stay at Mona Farm, this is an event not to be missed.”
Following the tour, guests can relax at their lodgings at Mona Farm or explore the property, see the sheep, the alpacas, the highland cows and pigs.
Mona Farm is a luxury accommodation and events estate with award-winning gardens, a working farm and a rich history to discover.
Beautifully restored buildings and English inspired gardens pay homage to the history, while Mona Farm’s present owners embrace the contemporary. A diverse collection of Australian art and sculpture has been introduced throughout the estate, creating an unparalleled collision of art, nature and luxury.
In the evening, the group comes back together for a history-inspired dinner, with stories by Tim the Yowie Man and dishes inspired by the history of Braidwood, created by Tristan Rebbettes. Breakfast is included in the package.
