Terror Laws Compatible with Human Rights - Can you hear the people sing?

Simon Corbell, who has still not answered the questions he agreed to answer from our readers, has put out a media release bringing us joyous news.

â€œThe advice proves that the ACT Government has honoured its commitment to provide laws that protect national security and human rights and comply with our international obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which is of course, enshrined in the law of the ACT in the Human Rights Act 2004,â€

How much did the advice cost? What would you actually have done if it had been adverse? Does anyone really care? Can we have the answers back to our email interview please?

The delay in responding to the email interview request is, no doubt, due to a need to obtain advice to ensure that the answers do not contravene any of the provisions of The Human Rights Act 2004.

This is the sort of thing that has contributed to our expanding deficit. Expensive legal advice from a Sydney QC on a matter that we don’t need or want and that has no relevance to the efficient administration of the affairs of the ACT.

I’m sure the lads in the pub will raise a glass and cheer the mayor and his sad offsider when I draw their attention to this press release.
