This just in:

Canberra theatre director Kerrie Roberts is bringing one of Terry Pratchett’s finest creations, Wyrd Sisters, to the Tuggeranong Arts Centre (TAC) stage for a two-week season from Tuesday 14 August.

Wyrd Sisters, adapted by playwright Stephen Briggs, “twists Macbeth, with the witches as the good guys,” says Roberts.

Our witches, the clever spinster, the earthy grandmother and the try-hard hippie, are trying to protect the kingdom from the evil new king and his even more evil wife, with the assistance of the Fool.

As can be relied on in a Pratchett tale, wisecracks, one-liners and puns abound, but beneath the surface frivolity is darkest satire, a deep empathy for the human condition, and a touching love story.

Wyrd Sisters will run at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre from Tuesday August 14 until August 25. Tickets $30 / $25. Bookings: 02) 6293 1443
