On Saturday night The Ellis Collective launched their new CD “Means what it means” at the Street Theatre.

It was great to see local talent playing to a packed theatre audience with the big lights and the big, beautiful sound system.

On the other hand there is always a tension with live music in theatrical spaces. Tour producer Eric Sussman blogged about it well when he was here in Canberra for Amanda Palmer’s tour.

There’s probably a balance to be struck in seeing music in venues where everyone isn’t talking, dancing or drinking. Sometimes.

Saturday night was one of those times.

We’ve talked at length about the sound of The Ellis Collective, and you can certainly get a feel from that from the video above. Or from the Unearthed website.

The important new datum is that the CD is now onsale at Landspeed Records in Garema Place.

If you do go down there be sure to say you heard about it on RiotACT 😉
