We just received an email from the good Dr. O’Boogie.
This Friday the venerable Pot Belly Bar in Belconnen is serving up another musical smorgasbord with the Dave Williams Blues Band, the Gaps and Canberra’s own mod/popster borderline alcoholics, The Feldons, who never fail to entertain with their driving poppy offerings that somehow elicit images of mid 60s London. Besides that, you might get lucky and see their bass player get drunk and fall off the stage or into the drum kit.
With a dearth of live original venues in this town, the Pot remains as a shining beacon to all inspiring musicians who wish to write and perform their own material. Apart from that, it is cosy and has an almost old world charm about it, having been virtually unchanged on the same site for at least 30 years now. Yes, one could go to a pokie infested booze barn, get a skin full and dance a sad bogan shuffle to tired karaoke tracks with a ravaged chick with four kids and a pig dog from Charnwood at 1.00am, but why?
So, if you’re at a loose end as to what to do this Friday then rock up, drink some beers, and have a great time while supporting local live original music.
