The mosquito coast

johnboy 26 March 2007 7

The ABC is warning about the perils of the much beloved South Coast of NSW. It seems the mosquitos have been thriving and getting much about. The result is a risk of both Barmah Forest Virus and Ross River Fever.

We’ll be back to sleeping under mosquito nets in no time!

Is there supposed to be a link to an article here? There usually is in this kind of thread…

Ross River virus has been around on the South Coast for yonks.

Besides, i lived right next to the Ross River in Townsville and never got it. However, i do know someone who contracted it while in the army. Not a nice thing.

Parts of North QLD have annual Mosquito spraying in wetlands and other prime beeding grounds to kill off the pesky little buggers. It should be considered for the South Coast if there is dramatic increases in disease reporting.

A DDT would be pretty hard to land on a mosquito. I guess we’ll just have to hope the boys&girls at Capital Pro Wrestling are up to it.
