The omnipresent Glen McCrea. Who is he?

By Rhysism - 26 September 2012 24

Is it just me or is Glen McCrea everywhere?

I live in Florey and work in the city, and no matter which friggin route I take I see his signs, and no matter where I go for groceries the bloke seems to be out the front with flyers in hand…

Is he literally everywhere or is he stalking me?

What on earth is he minister for anyway?

[ED – Glen’s on facebook Labor for Ginninderra, not yet in the Assembly so not a Minister and apparently not a fan of lego]

What’s Your opinion?

If you read the regulations, I don’t think Glen McCrea has broken any laws.

I have met him on a few occasions, and I like the fact that he has a clear strategy for the future of the ACT. I particularly like his making disability issues a priority.

I don’t know you and I don’t know anything about Glen, but I assume you think you know better and could do more for our community (from a political sense) than he?

Yes, yes I could.

What, pray tell, makes him a dullard?

His doltishness.

It’s not you. I, too, live in the electorate and often see Glen at the shops, which is not a surprise—looking at his mobile office schedule on his Facebook page, he is holding a lot of them.

I spoke to him at one about his opinion piece in The Canberra Times about the NDIS. http://www.canberratimes.com.au/opinion/i-saw-my-parents-pain-and-tears-20120729-235wh.html He seemed like a nice chap, and is clearly very passionate about improving the lives of people with a disability.

If a candidate is prepared to openly flout the law to get elected, what will they do if they are elected?

A pirate preaching about the law. irony lolz

Met Glen McCrea at Charnie shops. Seemed to a bit about disability and answered by questions about Belco roads.

He does have a lot of blue signs though haha

The signs are in breach of the law and TAMS appears to have better things to do than police them, and Elections ACT isn’t equipped to do so either.

TAMS did give policing it a go when it first started up this year http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/act-liberals-to-pay-the-price-for-breaching-sign-regulations-20120723-22kz5.html but the penalty only appears to apply if you want the signs back.

City Rangers have been patrolling Canberra for the past eight weeks to impound incorrectly placed political signage. City Rangers will continue this work in the lead-up to the election.

For a copy of the Code of Practice for the Placement of Movable Signs in Public Places, as well as a fact sheet on the Code, please visit http://www.tams.act.gov.au/live/city_rangers

If people notice signage which they believe does not meet the Code of Practice they can report it to Canberra Connect on 13 22 81.

Doesn’t he work for one of the federal politicians?

Well, he’d be right at home amongst Gallagher, Birch, Barr and Corbell.

He does seem to get around a fair bit. He did a door knock awhile back to introduce himself and seemed nice enough. I was impressed with his knowledge of somewhat dated music when he noticed my lame band t-shirt. Though we didn’t actually talk about anything even remotely related to politics aside from the fact that he was with Labor
