Ella Hunt, a.k.a. Cathy Diver (pictured), was awarded for THE SECOND TIME IN A ROW the Live Voice of the Year award during the National Live Music Awards, held at The Phoenix last week. Also of The Lowlands and Azim Zain & His Lovely Bones fame, check out the voice everyone’s raving about as Cathy Diver opens for Tate Sheridan and Crossed-Out Names this Saturday at The Phoenix, starting from 8 pm.

Go find those scraps of verse you wrote the other week on the bus and head on down to BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! for their last show of the year, featuring a Robot Adam Hadley, Nick Delatovic and The Australian Poetry Spoken Journal 8.2, on at Smith’s on Wednesday from 6:30 pm. Also on at the Phoenix, Lady Denman will be playing with Endrey, Beth Monzo and Ghost Boy from 8 pm.

Skipping over to Friday, the folk at the Polo are putting on a Very Bowie Xmas from 7:30 pm, featuring The Thin White Dukes, The Beta Blockers and Georgia Davis. Meanwhile, metalcore Sydneysiders Infinite Illusion will be playing at The Basement from 7 pm, with other bands such as Kaskeid, Hara Kiri and more. Saturday night also promises to be huge, with Darren Hanlon returning for his traditional Canberra Christmas show at the Ainslie Arts Centre from 7 pm, and the self-described loop pedal ninja from Japan Kenta Hayashi taking the stage at Smith’s Alternative from 7 pm.
