The Boomerang Blog brings word that in place of the Canberra Readers’ and Writers’ Festival there will be three smaller festivals spread throughout the year.

Aimed at young readers and writers, the first mini-festival, ‘Scribble’, will take place on 6 to 7 February and will feature readings, workshops, panel discussions, a zine fair and a poetry slam. Special guests include author Randa Abdel-Fattah and the publisher Mark MacLeod. For further information and a program, click here.

A Fiction Festival will be held on 11 July, and will be followed by a Poetry Festival on 17 October. Publishers looking to pitch authors should email director@actwriters.org.au.

Personally I’ve never seen reading as a festive activity (for all that I enjoy it) but best of luck to them.
