TONK TAKES IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Canberra rockers Tonk will cement their reputation as one of Canberra’s hottest bands when they take it to the next level in the studio and on the road over the next two months.
From 16 September, the band will spend seven days recording their debut EP’s with acclaimed producer Phil McKellar, in Sydney’s Megaphon studio.
Aussie icons Midnight Oil, The Hoodoo Gurus, Cold Chisel and The Mark of Cain have all previously recorded albums at Megaphon.
The band is stoked about the opportunity to record at Megaphon with Phil, who has also previously worked with some of Australia’s most high profile bands, including Silverchair, Grinspoon, and The Cruel Sea.
Following the recording, Tonk will unleash their live show outside Canberra for the first time, playing four Sydney shows with the Butterfly Effect in October.
The band then returns to Canberra to play the Cocktoberfest festival at the Greenroom, before ending October by opening for Jimmy Barnes with Night Train at The Hellenic Club. Dates for these shows are below.
The band are also entrants in Triple J’s Unearthed competition, and people can support the band by voting at:
