Traffic diversions in place after gas leak on Northbourne Avenue

UPDATE 5:58 pm – ACT Fire & Rescue have made the area safe. There is no further risk to public safety. Roads are currently being reopened.

ACT Fire & Rescue are attending a gas leak at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Wakefield Avenue.

ESA media says ACT Fire & Rescue personnel are continuing to work with contractors to make the area safe.

Northbourne Avenue is closed southbound at Wakefield Avenue and northbound at Ipima Street and the public is urged to avoid the area and follow all traffic diversions.

ESA says there are no evacuations required but people in the affected area are encouraged to remain indoors with windows closed.

Please avoid the area if possible and follow all traffic diversions in place.
