A man has been stabbed in the stomach and a 17-year-old has been left with cuts to his hands during a brawl in Queanbeyan’s central business district. Two women have been arrested and charged with affray over the incident.
Police responded to reports of a brawl between a group of people in Morisset Street, outside Kmart, just after 3:00 pm on Tuesday (25 May).
When the police officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old man with stab wounds to his stomach and a 17-year-old boy with cuts to his hand.
Both men were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Canberra Hospital under police escort in a stable condition. The 17-year-old boy has since been released.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police will allege two women, aged 19 and 36, were involved in a physical altercation at the scene and that the parties were known to each other.
The two women were arrested at the scene and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where they were charged with affray.
The 36-year-old was granted conditional bail to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on 21 June.
The 19-year-old was granted conditional bail to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on 28 June.
A police spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
