Two women arrested after stealing car in Rivett

A 23-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested in a taxi and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (10 September) after they stole a car in Rivett.

Around 3:25 pm on Sunday (8 September), the pair allegedly stole a black Volkswagen Golf in Rivett and allegedly made threats towards the owner of the Golf and her young child during the incident.

Enquiries led by Criminal Investigation officers resulted in the arrest of the two women following the interception of a taxi they were travelling in in Rivett at about 3:15 pm on Monday afternoon (9 September).

The 19-year-old woman has been charged with aid and abet an aggravated robbery, ride/drive a motor vehicle without consent and in relation to warrants for unrelated matters. The 23-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery, take a motor vehicle without consent and using a vehicle as an offensive weapon.

Police will oppose bail.

Police are still investigating the links between the three aggravated robberies that occurred between Saturday and Monday and further charges are expected to be laid.
