Bonejack’s friends think he needs a lifestyle.
He thinks he might like being a goth.
So as a good friend I went with him to the Vamp night at the Holy Grail.
With the lights down the garish paint scheme didn’t overly offend.
In large part older goth men stood on the edges and young goth women in extravagant corsetry bopped away on the dance floor. Periodically large groups would disappear outside to shiver and smoke.
The guys running it went around every now and then asking what people wanted to hear. It seemed mostly people wanted to hear old NIN and Rammstein.
We played a lot of pool badly.
Bonejack thinks he might like to be a goth and plans to go back.
Wow…I know Riot-Act sinks to some lows, and I know I’m often party to that..but WOW. There are some real lame-arses on this site.
If you don’t like rounder chicks, make friends with them, because they always have hot friends.
The main reason why I was going to comment on this thread was to do with the attitudes of the older goths in regards to the newer breeds (not emos). Grow up. You’re 35. In high school, we worry about image (or alcohol). In adulthood, we worry about good music (or alcohol – or both). Good music has nothing to do with how the musicians or the fans dress, act, talk or anything else but the sound. There’s some great industrial out there, I might even dare to say some tidbits of black/death/doom/celtic/whatever metal I’ve heard are brilliant as well. Listen to the damn music, don’t worry about how other people listen to it or how they’re dressed. Get drunk and have a good time.
Also…don’t worry about that bunch of drunken bogans who were intentionally (?) dancing like idiots in the middle of the dance-floor at the last vamp or whatever it was with goths at the grail before this one post. We…I mean they were just trying to have fun. The snobbish looks and what seemed to be offense at our very un-blackened presence was laughable…even more than our drunk-dancing.

Be careful using the word hypocrisy Newbie, given that you are at your keyboard engaged in the same activity…
– I’m sorry JB, I will leave well anough alone now, my life is there to be gotten.
Gosh I would LOVE to go to this night if I had friends who were into this kind of music. Im not a “goth” anymore but it sounds like a great night out!

Yeah you’re probably right. But it was fun to antagonise the antagonists Johnboy.
I lay down my weapons before you oh RiotACT Overlord until I am next provoked into battle.

Seriously, get away from your keyboard and get a life. Just leave it.
I was as annoyed by those comments as anyone AH, but I think it’s time to show some grace and let it go now?
Okay Queenie, let’s learn about something called having the courage of your convictions. Just because you don’t think before you write doesn’t mean I’m going to hold back from you.
Your first statement was;

So how did you mean that comment? ‘I want to gouge my eyes out looking at that photo too’ is pretty self explanatory to me, not many other ways you can take that.
…And then you played the victim after people questioned your sincerity;
I offered a sincere, genuine apology because I realised I’d upset people, and if that isn’t good enough for you then so be it. To those who were actually involved, however, they should know I was sincere.
To the people making wild assumptions (because of a joke on the internet) about my lifestyle, choice of music, body shape, clothes et cetera, I’m not even going to bother setting you straight. You don’t deserve to know.
Queenie, I don’t want to know.
So people are making assumptions about you after you posted something on the internet?!?!
Wow people can be sooooooo cruel can’t they?

Way to take me seriously.
Woah, dude…. Way to take ME seriously! Although I was half-serious…
I’ve never heard anyone be called ‘fat’ in a positive way.
You’re cool JakeZ, or maybe I’m completely full of shit!
Nah you are atually cool! Ugh! I don’t know if I’m being serious now or not!
We can really misconstrue our words on the interweb can’t we…

HAHA, quiet you.
I do believe that Queenie was sincere, and I think it takes a generous and secure person to apologise.
In this medium it is sometimes easy to misunderstand what was intended without the cues that verbal and body language provide us.

Stop helping/working for the Liberals then! 😉

I have only interest in one woman, my wife. and after all, we have been together for over 15 years….
she would love it if I changed my flannies for mod clothes, but as they say, you can take the boy out of charny, you can’t take charny out of the boy….
and anyway, I’m not hurting anyone…
tried wearing skivvys once. bad experience.
she thought I looked dashing, I thought i was being strangled…
Queenie I can’t believe you didn’t realise your comment would upset people?

Oh I have a goth story that relates to my political nerdery.
I worked for Senator Humphries during the last election campaign and we had a goth girl come in wanting to help out. Big girl with black black hair, white white face makeup with big lipstick and eye liner and the whole shebang. It was fantastic. She ended up manning one of the smaller booths for the entire day.
Some people in the Party had the automatic ‘what the’ reaction but I thought it was great and she put in a lot more effort than most people.
Personally I think the Liberal Party needs more characters like her and maybe one day I can go back to dying my hair green.
I get a bit sick of people in society who seem to want the world to be drab. You have to conform to this very narrow way of looking; and living your life. Personally I love it, and the girls in the photos look pretty happy to me. Good on them.

I would wear desert boots, and my AC/DC shirts from the tours, but they seem to have shrunk….

The commentator labelled them as ‘fat’ I’ve never really heard that said to someone’s face in a positive light mate.
And I’ve also never heard ‘making me want to gouge my own eyes out’in that way either.
Nor have i ever heard ‘Kraftwerk’ used in any positive context at all…
So it could be me or there could be an inkling of fullness of shit there. Although those crazy kids these days do use the term ‘phat’ sometimes which I beleive has positivity associated to it.

I really think that I never pay attention to what she wears when she is out, as it is a novelty with 3 littlies to be out (without them).
I prefer to wear ugg boots, flannie and jeans. i have to do this in the comfort of my own home, though. I wear a bag of fruit 5 days a week, no tie on fridays (casual day).
peterh, your comment says far more about you and an expectation of blandness in women that I think you intended.
