Woden’s newest development, Oaks, is perched in the heart of the Woden Town Centre with stunning views of Black Mountain and the surrounding leafy suburbs of the Inner South.

The 16-storey, 156-unit building is the first stage of Oaks, which will be built around two significant oak trees. Originally planted to commemorate a former soldier settlement farm, the oak trees are heritage-listed and are more than 100 years old.

The developer, Amalgamated Property Group, thought long and hard about how to pay homage to the history of the site. They decided to construct the three buildings that form Oaks around the trees, making them a central part of the Village Green common area. They’re now a point of pride in the project’s extensive landscaping design.

“Oaks is a collection of apartments, each a home for all seasons, with the development defined by light, space and elegant simplicity,” says Wayne Harriden, Executive Director, Independent. “Each unit has been designed to establish a meaningful connection with nature.”

Most units face north and feature floor-to-ceiling glass to capture the abundance of natural light. Energy efficiency is an important component of the design and build, with all apartments’ external windows and sliding glass doors double glazed.

“Spacious balconies open to uninterrupted views of Black Mountain or the Village Green, with occupants able to enjoy the glory each change of season brings,” says Wayne.

The one, two and three-bedroom units have expansive lounge and kitchen areas designed to balance form with functionality. Living areas are spacious and floor-to-ceiling windows provide sweeping views.

Oaks offers major amenities on site, including a stunning lap pool and a private wellness centre. The development features plenty of greenery with its series of landscaped spaces, including lawns, terraces, barbecue areas, plazas and intimate seating nooks, so residents can connect with nature and each other. The location is also connected to sprawling parkland.

Award-winning Milin Builders, which has constructed more than 3000 dwellings over 30 years in business, is building Oaks. Architects DBI Design is one of Australia’s leading design companies, having worked nationally and internationally.

The area provides full shopping options, a state-of-the-art cinema, and dozens of other amenities. Residents will also have easy access to the fresh food on offer each weekend direct from growers at the South Side fresh food markets and the development is also only a short distance from the Yarralumla, Deakin and Curtin shops.

“Nature lovers will be right at home, with easy access to the cycling, walking and trekking facilities at Mount Stromlo, Mount Taylor and Black Mountain,” says Wayne.

Prices start from $307,000. Display suite open, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm, 15 Irving Street, Phillip.
