Transport Canberra is gearing up for the start of the new bus network by launching a recruitment drive to boost the ranks of drivers.
The new bus network is expected to start rolling for the start of Term 2 of the school year in April and Transport Canberra says that with more buses operating more often – seven days a week – more drivers will be needed.
The agency is looking for people who have a keen interest in driving, a good driving history and enjoy interacting with members of the public.
“If you are an experienced driver or looking to start your career as a bus driver, we are interested in talking to you,” said Fleur Flanery, Director, Public Transport Operations at Transport Canberra.
“At Transport Canberra, we care about the safety of our people and our community and we consider safety in everything we do. We want to recruit individuals who are passionate and want to contribute to the public transport experience for our community. If you possess these skills, have a car (C) licence or above, and are available to work a five-day roster and a selection of weekends, then we encourage you to apply.”
There will be an information night on Tuesday 12 February at the Ainslie Football and Social Club, to provide an overview of the recruitment process, training requirements and the benefits of becoming a bus driver with Transport Canberra.
Transport Canberra says attendance at the information session is not compulsory but is highly recommended.
An equal opportunity employer, Transport Canberra is encouraging women and men from within our community, including all Indigenous and cultural backgrounds, to apply.
