Varsity Derby League is having another ‘fresh meat’ intake. Women and men (over 18) are welcome to come along and start training with VDL to be either players or referees. No previous skating experience is required, we’ll teach you! The sessions are:

Sunday 18 August, 6 pm – 8 pm
Tuesday 20 August, 7.30 pm – 10 pm
Sunday 25 August, 6 pm – 8 pm

At Woden Indoor Basketball Stadium, 13 Irving St, Phillip. These sessions are free.

You will need quad roller skates (suitable for derby, not artistic/figure skates), a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards and a mouth guard. Some of this gear may be available for loan (except mouthguards of course). If you have your own gear, cover the hard caps on the knee and elbow pads with felt or hockey tape. Contact us if you need gear advice.

We’ve also answered all the things we hear from people who’d like to do derby but think they can’t. (Mostly: No, you’re not too old/skinny/fat/short/tall/unfit/unco to join us!)
