What's your prediction on the order the minor party's will finish in the Senate?

But the liberals will win the second seat, in the ACT we elect 2 senators at each election, so yes labor will come first but libs will come second.

Well thats just the point. the bigger parties try to keep the smaller parties out of the picture, by saying the vote doesn’t matter. But in reality if everyone instead put a minor party ahead of the major party it could make a huge difference. The senate is the house that does allow for minor parties like One nation and family first to gain a seat every now and then. Although in the states they only need ~14.3% to gain enough for a seat

I can see the Katter party getting some senate seats somewhere and it may be just what the libs need to have some kind of control in the senate.

5)Bullet train (well known already)

8)Animal justice party (donkey vote)

10)Australian independents
11)Rise up
12)Euthanasia Party
13)Drug law reform
14)Ezekiel-Hart independent

do any of these parties do any actual campaigning? other than the top three I have not seen anything other than what is posted on here and the questionnaire.

if a smaller party did have a fair go they might be able to reach the 4% mark and get $2.48 a vote in electoral funding. Could be a good investment for some small up and coming parties, However I think a lot of these parties are like lawn mowing franchises, one man and a hat.

He does, doesn’t he. It makes you wonder why he’s associating himself with a loony like Katter.

as more candidates finish the riot act questionnaire, I may want to change my order a bit, but I still think Katter party will to well, That Steven Bailey bloke seems pretty normal to me, his answers are pretty much in line with my views. But I guess I have to wonder how many other Canberrans think the same?

I hope we get a lot more over the next few days, they are a great insight into partys I know nothing about.

As i said on the other thread, its interesting to note many labor voters voted greens first purely to get their first preferences up. I’d be interested to know what the donkey vote percentage in the senate is. i’d think more likely people will put a 1 above the line, not necessarily in the first box.

They sort of do, although they are grouped as independents as I believe the party is now deregistered.

Minor? I barely know her.

oh back to the guessing comp. I don’t think Katter will be as high in the ACT. but its hard to say which minor party with a one issue platform would get higher. The Sex party probably would get more votes if they changed their name but continued with there policy ideas.

Yes well the idea was for the 6 states to have an equal say in the senate. Of course the ACT and NT didn’t get an equal say because they didn’t really exist in 1901. that said when they offered the NT statehood in a referendum it was turned down, basically because its representation in the senate was not going to be equal to the other 6 states.

Tassie also has 17 representatives (5 house of reps, 12 senators).

It would be nice to get better representation at the federal level.
