Where's ZeddyThe CityNews is reporting that instead of doing what the Leader of the Opposition ought to be doing and representing the people in the Assembly when the ACT budget reply speeches were being given, instead he was caught skiving off attempting to line the party pockets with pieces of gold at a fundraising dinner with the business community. Is this acceptable behaviour for a wannabe Chief Minister?

Tom-Tom – as ever, your thoughts are on the mark. The Libs have to work their backsides off to win, and Zed has not shown much will to do that.
But. Please proofread before submitting. I’m nice, because I happen to agree with you, but someone else may be less so.

By the way, have any Community Alliance Party policies surfaced yet? Hingee’s letter of correction in this morning’s Canberra Times suggests it is, basically, a pack of mendicants. The funding stuff should be a hoot.

Oh dear CanberraResident … your wife thinks Zed is sexy? Mind is boggling now …

Just ran this by Mrs CR, and she said this: place a pic of Stanhopeless next to a pic of Zed, and what do you notice?

It’s blatantly obvious, Zed has the better genes …

Oh dear CanberraResident … your wife thinks Zed is sexy? Mind is boggling now …

So besides acheiving so little in his term in office that his own colleagues forget to knife him zed thinks its appropriate to not even bother showing up? If i decieded i’d rather go out to dinner with my mates than turn up to work when i’m ment to be then i’d be out of a job pretty quick; same should happen to zed. Is he intending on paying back part of his MLA’s salary? Why should my rates go towards him bludging? So far all Zed’s offered the public is a unbeleivably mindless cut in stamp duty and it would now appear he can’t even fulfill the duties of a MLA; what on earth could he offer as CM?

Canberra deserves better than this clown; we deserve a chief minister who offers more than a wide jaw and nice manners; at the very least canberra deserves some one who actually shows up.

I saw the article in City News, and didn’t think much either way about it. But, election08, as I assume you’re a Labor party stoodge, having gone to so much trouble to put the picture together, I can now see that the local ALP are even grubbier than I originally thought. Counting down the days until the arrogant Mr Stanhope is out of office.

I agree with caf, absence from the chamber to represent the Territory at an official function is different to being the guest of honour at your own fundraiser.

oh, it worked, i’m not THAT dumb after all

Zed is young and hip. He has a YouTube site, opened 25 March 2008. Sorry, still don’t know how to create a url link even with Maelinar’s guidance last week.

Zed’s got my vote. In fact anyone not named Stanhope would have my vote.

Oh! What a lovely pic of Zed, and most creative I must say!

Now, if only you had been as creative with your story …

Carn Seselja … !!!!!

…and as Mrs CR would say, “Canberra needs a sexy Chief Minister” …

There’s more to the assembly than just votes – it’s supposed to be a debating chamber. The logical extension of the argument above “lose by 2 votes or lose by 3” is that none of the non-government members need ever bother appearing, which is clearly ludicrous.

You could say the same thing about Standope and his absences from virtually any form of CM ministerial duty that requires attendance at a church. Of course when it comes to Labor associates such as Grasby and Terry Connolly (RIP) he will turn up but anything major at a church that has federal govt. attendance (memorial services etc) Comrade is conspicuously absent…..he generally sends a shabbily dressed Katy

Does it really matter wether he’s there to vote or not? Lose by 2 votes on something or lose by three? When they (Liberals) and the semi-independent and the Green all vote together they can….only just lose. Oh well.

Remember when Karin Macdonald got caught getting her boyfriend to astroturf, calling the radio and raving about how good she was, and got caught out? That was great.

She wouldn’t be stupid enough to do it twice……would she?

I smell a Labor party team member being somewhat indiscrete, but clever by using the CityNews as the cover, in their attempt to badmouth the opposition without fully disclosing who they are. I wonder if you are also the source of the leaked emails that are mentioned in the article, seeing you put such effort into the picture above – its not the one captioned with the article on the CityNews’ website..

Now, do we care that Zed wasn’t there for the Labor party to ram through their bills that they would have passed anyway using their majority numbers, no matter how loud the people of Canberra object? Nup.

If anyone in Canberra has any sense they will be voting to at least return the assembly to a minority government, if not voting stanhopeless out all together.

I’m interested to see that the Legislative Assembly debated several controversial bills on the night Zed took off. According to that article he missed the votes on the Electoral Act and Civil Partnerships Bill. I would have thought that leading his party’s opposition to those bills was more important than attending a fundraising dinner.

The real issue seems to be the level of incompetence in the Liberal party which resulted in a fundraising dinner being scheduled for a day where the Assembly was sitting (and hence where there was a good chance that sittings would continue into the night). The party’s leader shouldn’t have had to make the choice between anoying donors by not showing or cancelling or skipping an evening’s sitting and several votes.

I dont understand what the problem is?
Is this something only a blind diehard labor voter understands??

He wasn’t fundraising – he was at a dinner with the Canberra business community on his knees, kissing Jim Murphy’s pinky ring, giving Kate Carnell a back rub, buying Russell Parkes a drink while crawling around on the ground and grovelling, begging, “pleaseeee, pleaseee don’t form your own party… Pleeaaaassse! I’ll be good I promise – I’m better than Bill, give me a go…. I can turn things around…”

is any different to any of the prior chief ministers?

Yep and I can’t wait to vote him in.
