The Tradies were probably the only business in Canberra that have ever made any money out of a tram but it didn’t go the whole distance.

The Transport Canberra version is also destined to fail.

Maybe not if they install a beer tap and a few snooker tables? 😉

Good one, Jane!

Oh, I loved the tram! Surely with the emergence of light rail, it’s time to bring it back!?

I have very fond memories of heading out to the Tradies, usually on the tail end of a night out (I wasn’t much of a drinker then, so was always driving). It was one of the few places where you could kick on a cool, quiet, safe atmosphere, and where you could play upstairs on decent quality pool and snooker tables. You had to become a member but it was ridiculously cheap, $3 or something back then?

I used to love the Noodle House at Dickson Tradies. We used to go there often when we first moved to Canberra. We lived in Hackett and didn’t have a lot of money. It was a great night out for us. I loved sitting in the trams. I could sit there for hours. And I often did – my ex loved playing the pokies, and when his mum visited, she would on occasion spent all day at Tradies. Lucky she loved the Noodle House, too.

My favourite memory of the tradies is the old tram restaurant we used to eat at when I was a young kid. Does anyone know what year it was removed?

I love the schnitzel’s at the tradies – I think they are the best in Canberra. One of my new past times is spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Canberra Wine House drinking Nick O’Leary White Rocks Riesling.

I met my husband at the Dickson Tradies in 2009. It was a Monday night and I remember the Raiders were playing the Cowboys – and the Raiders won.
