Woden graffiti infestation being cleaned out

By SheepGroper - 10 May 2011 80

Michael steep memorial

That crapulous memorial to failure is being cleaned off the wall behind the bus timetables right now, I noticed the cleaners setting up to do their stuff as I walked past around 9am today.

It had been pretty much abandoned for the last few weeks, so I really doubt the kiddies who were so vocal about it will notice it’s gone.

[ED – we gather a memorial to Michael Steep is being dedicated at Pine Island today]

And some people need to realise, save for close family and a special few, these children were simply using it as tool to skip school, go around and do as they please.

Putting it simply, they have left, they’re gone, they have forgotten.

If the poor (?) child’s death meant as much as they said, they’d still be there in the interchange – but they’re not.

And there is no other memorial around for the kid, if there is, point it out, but guaranteed they just shifted to the next excuse to vandalise and skip school…

Pine Island Gantz, dedicated today.

Some fish can remember things for at least 11 months, presumably goldfish could do the same, allowing for individual variation. At least goldfish don’t go around vandalising community infrastructure.

+1

So because these kids have moved on from the focal point of their grief and they’re presumably getting on with their lives, that means that they’ve forgotten their friend and no longer care about his death? The sense of arrogance and superiority in some of these posts is sickening.

I consider myself very fortunate that when I was that age, I didn’t ever have to go through losing a friend. I said it at the time, and I’ll say it again now – I hope that Michael’s friends can get together, and plan a suitable memorial to him.

The idea that because this kid’s friends aren’t manning the barricades now means they don’t give a f*#k about their friend though…seriously, some people here need to grow up. Ironic really.

Yeah yeah, and pommies are all skinhead nutbags who take SOCCER too seriously and enjoy warm beer.

Ooh, being negative CAN be fun!

Whilst I’m at it – RE: “Methinks that the youngsters have moved on and that they are now too busy with their Playstations and other amusements to give a toss about preserving the memory of their departed colleague.”

Stupidest thing ever. I have lost friends when I was young and whilst I went on to play Playstation again, I have never and will never forget or stop feeling sad about the loss. This is a huge, irreplacable loss for his family and for many of his friends it will be their first run in with death, loss and grieving. What the hell is your excuse for acting so shameful??

I was thinking the same thing – some unecessarily venomous and antagonistic comments being made here. I don’t think anyone expects compassion, but surely you can celebrate your victory without being as disrespectful as those who were responsible for the graffiti.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one feeling a bit disappointed by the reaction of some of the ‘adults’ here.

No real suprise. The drama’s over.

Given the rather strident and truculent response by the kiddies – both on this forum and at the Interchange – when the first attempt was made to rebeautify the area following the vandalism (I refuse to call it a memorial), I wonder whether they will be manning the barricades today and forcing the cleaners to back off.

Methinks that the youngsters have moved on and that they are now too busy with their Playstations and other amusements to give a toss about preserving the memory of their departed colleague.

Ah, so all those useless bogan pieces of trash that were so adamant that they would preserve the memorial forever in his name proven themselves to be forgetful of their dearly departed friend. Perhaps it was the bongs, perhaps it was the bong water? Perhpas they just really didn’t care in the first place. Who knows…

The best way to remove the eyesores would be to use a D9 bulldozer.
